Catholic Social Workers Are Pro-Life

Aug 7, 2016

Catholic social workers practice what the Catholic Church teaches: “Human life is sacred. The dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. Direct attacks on innocent persons are never morally acceptable, at any stage or in any condition. “[1]

You see, Catholic Social Workers don’t agree with the statement, “to have an abortion is touching and compelling.” As professional Catholic social workers we will never establish or secure funding for abortions or connect a woman to an agency that will offer her abortion services. And we certainly, won’t advocate for current legislation or policies seeking to end life, or imminent ones that pursue the expansion of abortion services.

We value all human life from conception to natural death. We walk the beaten path everyday as sidewalk counselors—seeking to avert women from making a decision in ending a human life. We reach out our hands to women who feel as if they are lost and out of options. We provide assistance and compassion to women in poor communities who think they don’t have the additional resources to care for another child. And yes, we even pray outside abortion clinics not only for an end to abortion, but for a conversion of heart for employees that work for these clinics.

We defend, protect and advocate for life in all of its stages!

Catholic social workers will mobilize our efforts along with other pro-life organizations and advocates in seeking to ensure Roe v. Wade is overturned.

For members of the Church:

May God open our eyes to his gift of life

and move our hearts with compassion

to protect and care for it.[2]
