Dear
Friends,
Thank you for taking an interest in the Catholic Social
Workers National Association, (CSWNA) we have already been
blessed to have the amazing support of individuals and
corporations that have empowered us to provide Catholic
Social Workers a professional association that promotes not
only their profession but also their faith. For this we are
deeply grateful, we are truly many parts one body, the body
of Christ.
Pope Benedict the XVI in his first encyclical asserted
"Individuals who care for those in need must first be
professionally competent: they should be properly trained in
what to do and how to do it, and committed to continuing
care.
Yet, while professional competence is a primary, fundamental
requirement, it is not of itself Sufficient. We are dealing
with human beings, and human beings always need something
more than technically proper care. They need humanity. They
need heartfelt concern. Consequently, in addition to their
necessary professional training, these charity workers need
a 'formation of the heart' " The Catholic Social Workers
National Association is the social work response to our
Pope's call to action.
Catholic social workers are called to care for the poor and
for the poor of spirit. They work with those who abuse, are
abused as well as who have been neglected in body, mind or
spirit. They advocate for the youngest of young, in their
mothers wombs and the elderly, the sick and dying till Jesus
calls them home. They humbly walk with their clients through
life's joys and challenges, living out Jesus command to love
and following his example in washing one another's feet.
I would like to ask you to consider a donation to CSWNA so
we can continue to support Catholic Social Workers as they
live out their baptismal call to be the hands and feet of
Christ. CSWNA will be adding many different services,
benefits, and hope to open state and country chapters around
the world. Catholic Social Workers need to have support and
a Catholic presence in their professional daily lives. Your
generous donation will ensure our Catholic values and
beliefs will have that voice. I also ask for your prayers
that Christ continually bless this association.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, cause of our joy, pray for us.
Kathleen Neher, MSW, LSW
